Air tickets and how to get to Cuzco

Your first step is to reserve a flight to Lima, the capital of Peru. Most flights arrive in Lima late in the evening. There are no flights to Cuzco at night, so you need to book an early flight to Cuzco the day after your arrival in Lima. The earliest flight is at six a.m. Be prepared, therefore, to spend the night at the airport in Lima or to rent a room in a nearby hotel.
You need to book a return trip from Lima to Cuzco. The flight between Lima and Cuzco is approximately an hour-and-a-half long, so consider that when you book your international flight home. The Lima airport is quite modern and has many amenities, however you need to arrive at the airport three hours before your international flight departs.
The average price for an airline ticket from Canada to Peru is between $700 and $1,200, depending on the stopovers you choose and the time of your reservation.
When you arrive at Cuzco, you have two choices for how to get to your hotel. There are taxis that specialize in driving from the airport to your destination, and there are also local taxis outside of the periphery of the airport. The specialized taxis can cost up to $20 USD, while the local taxis will only charge S/.10 (10 soles, the Peruvian currency, or about $4 CDN).
